A student who has passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent Examination is eligible to seek admission to the 1st year of the B.A./B.Sc. (Single-Major) Course of Studies provided the candidate has also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100 and fulfils the conditions as laid down in clause 5, 10, 11 and 12 of CU/CSR-5/2023.*
Aggregate = Total of best four subjects
Best 4 Aggregate Calculation excludes: Environmental Education, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies studied in 10+2 level
For SC/ST/OBC-A and OBC-B applicants, minimum eligibility criterion will be 40% in Aggregate and 40% in subject or related subject in HS or equivalent and must fulfil additional requirements if any as given above.
Index marks calculation formulae will be same across all categories.

Applicants are required to fulfil the Eligibility Criteria required for applying to 4-year B.A. /B.Sc. (Honours & Honours with Research) courses offered by the college. Validity of application also depends on filling in all required fields in the form, uploading of required documents and successful submission of application form within the stipulated date and time.
The Merit List (provisional) for every course offered will be prepared on the basis of the Index Marks secured by the applicants. The formulae for Index Marks calculation for every Honours course are given along with the application eligibility criteria.

The number of seats approved for B.A. /B.Sc. Honours courses offered by the college is given below. Admission will be conducted as per available vacancies in various categories. Reservation Policy for admission shall be guided by the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission), Act 2013 and Rules, 2014 and Memorandum No. 330-Edn (CS)/OM-74L/2023, dt., 26.05.2023. For Persons with Disabilities (PwD), reservation will be maintained as per the relevant norms (5% of seats are reserved in each category vide G.O. Duration of the Course: The B.A./ B.Sc. Programme shall be for a duration of Four (04) years Eight (08) semesters (with an exit option after completion of 2nd/4th/6th Semesters).
Disciplines and Types of Subjects

There are 2 broad Disciplines: (i) Humanities & Language, (ii) Science.

Major

i. The college offers Major in 19 subjects for the semester wise 4-year B.A. /B.SC.(Honours with or without Research) courses (under CCF). A candidate will have to choose any one of the following 19 subjects as Major:

ii. Minor: The college offers the following subjects as Minor:

iii. Interdisciplinary Course (IDC): A student will have to opt for three subjects as IDCs (one in each of the first three semesters) from a pool of subjects offered by the college in the different disciplines. These subjects must be different from the major and minor subject. Candidates will be able to choose the IDCs after the completion of the admission process.

iv. Skill Enhancement Course (SEC): SEC courses are based upon skill enhancement. Student shall study 2 SECs based on Major subjects in 1st and 3rd semester. In the 2nd semester the student can study Artificial Intelligence (for Science discipline) or Digital Empowerment (for Humanities & Language discipline) or as specified in the syllabus of the concerned Major subject. Candidates will be able to choose the SECs after the completion of the admission process.

v. Common Value-Added Course (CVAC): A student shall take 4 CVAC courses. In the 1st semester she will take 2 compulsory CVACs (ENVS & Constitutional Values). In the 2nd semester there shall be 1 compulsory CVAC in ENVS & the students shall select the other CVAC from a pool of courses. Candidates will be able to choose their optional CVACs after the completion of the admission process.

vi. Ability Enhancement Course (AEC): All students shall have to study 4 AEC courses. There will be a compulsory AEC, named Compulsory English which shall be studied in the 1st and 2ndsemesters and there will be an optional AEC (Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/ Alt. Eng) to be studied in the 3rd & 4th semesters.

During application for admission to the 1st semester of the 4-year B.A./B.Sc. (Honours with or without Research) Courses, 2025 an applicant must choose:
One Major Subject (from any one of the 2 broad disciplines mentioned above)-The candidate will pursue 4 year Single Major B.A./B.Sc. (Honours with or without research) course
Two Minor Subjects (to be taken from the same broad discipline as the Major subject)- choice of Minor subjects against a Major is given below
Two Ability Enhancement Courses (AECC)

a) Compulsory English for 1st& 2nd semesters

b) MIL/ Alternative English (MIL includes: Bengali, Hindi & Urdu)-for 3rd and 4th semesters

An applicant can apply for multiple Major courses but will have to take admission in any one Major course.
Since Economics and Geography are common to both the broad disciplines mentioned above, students taking Major in Economics and Major in Geography, after successful completion of the 4-year course, will be conferred B.A./B.Sc. degree depending on the choice of Minor subjects. To secure B.Sc. degree a student must choose both the Minor subjects from the broad Science Discipline. It should also be noted that for Major in Economics, Mathematics must be taken as Minor.

Minor Subject Combinations

The college offers 19 subjects as Minors. The applicants are required to choose any two Minor subjects offered by the College from the same discipline as the Major.
It must be noted that in case of Economics and Geography Majors, after successful completion of the course, the degrees conferred may be B.A. or B.Sc. . The nomenclature of degree will depend on the Minor Subjects chosen by the candidates. To secure B.Sc. degree in Economics & Geography, a student has to choose both the Minor subjects from Science discipline.

With reference to the G.O. No. 710-Edn(CS) /105M-95/14, dated 25th September, 2025, in order to fill up vacant seats, fresh applications are being invited for admission to Semester Wise Four-Year B.A./ B.Sc. (Honours & Honours with Research) Courses of Studies Under [Curriculum and Credit Framework]. Admission is merit based and subject to available vacancies. All notices and announcements regarding UG admission will be available at https://ladybrabourne.ac.in and https://admission.ladybrabourne.ac.in

Applicants are instructed to read carefully the guidelines provided below and the eligibility criterion before filling in the application form online.

Admission in this phase will be conducted online through the designated “Standalone admission portal” (SAP) of Lady Brabourne College: https://admission.ladybrabourne.ac.in
Only female candidates are eligible to apply.
Applicants must register through the above portal before online application. The entire procedures of application and admission are online. There is no provision for offline application or admission.
Online Application for admission to Four-year B.A./B.Sc. (Honours & Honours with Research) courses for the academic year 2025-26 will open on and from 12.10.2025, Sunday at 4:00 pm and run till 16.10.2025, Thursday, 10:00 am Applicants will apply online only through the admission portal of the college: https://admission.ladybrabourne.ac.in
Subject-wise Merit Lists (provisional) will be published tentatively on 16.10.2025, Thursday after 4:00 P.M.
Any error committed on the part of the applicant during online application will NOT be rectified. Information entered by the applicants will be considered as final and the same will be reflected in the Merit Lists (Provisional).
Applicants are required to apply online within the stipulated time period mentioned above and follow the Admission Schedules and other notifications published on the portal regularly.
Online admission for UG courses will start on 16.10.2025 Thursday (after 4: 00 P.M.). Please find the online admission schedule below.
Online application for UG admission is entirely free of cost. No Application Fee will be charged from the applicants.
Students who have passed the 10+2 level examination in 2022, 2023, 2024 or 2025 from any recognized board in India (e.g. ISC, CBSE, West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, other boards of West Bengal and other states) are eligible to seek admission to the 1st year of the B.A./B.Sc. (Single-Major, Honours with or without Research) Course of Studies provided the candidate has also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100.
Foreign students, with completely published results of 10+2 level or equivalent examinations, are eligible for application.

Procedure of Online Application:

Eligible candidates must register themselves on the college admission portal https://admission.ladybrabourne.ac.in and then proceed to online application.
During the application, all fields mentioned on the application form should be correctly entered after careful consideration. Candidates should revise and preview their application forms before final submission. However, students can change/edit their data/information themselves through the admission portal during the application period (till 16.10.2025, 10 AM). No change of marks /editing of application form is possible once the Merit List (Provisional) is published.
Forms will be considered valid only if candidates make successful online submission of application forms and upload the required documents.
Candidates who fail to upload the required documents during online application will not be considered in the Merit List (provisional).
The college is not liable for any erroneous information provided by the candidates. Admission is liable to be cancelled if a candidate is found guilty of suppression or of misrepresentation of materials/facts at any stage.
Candidates can apply 24x7 during the above-mentioned period. After online submission of application and uploading of documents, applicants are required to download submitted form generated and save the same for future reference.
